The Telugu animated movie Mahavatar Narsimha has earned more than ₹220 crore at the Indian box office after being in theatres for 29 days. The movie has continued to do well, especially in its fourth weekend. Many people are still going to see it, even though the film had limited promotion and is an animated film.
The movie is directed by Ashwin Kumar and produced by Kleem Productions and Hombale Films. It is based on stories from the Vishnu Purana and the Bhagavata Purana. The story shows two forms of Lord Vishnu, Varaha and Narasimha, and uses modern animation to bring these stories to the screen.
Mahavatar Narsimha was released in theatres on July 25, 2025. Before that, it had a premiere at the International Film Festival of India in November 2024. Since then, it has become the highest-earning animated movie in India. It has made more money than earlier animated films like Hanuman.
By the 25th day of release, the film had already collected ₹212 crore. In the next few days, the total went above ₹220 crore. Most of the money came from states where Telugu is spoken. The film was made with a small budget of around ₹15 crore, so it has earned back much more than it cost.
Many families and children liked the movie. Parents said their children felt connected to the story. Teachers and cultural groups have also praised the film because it helps the younger generation learn about old Indian stories.
People from all age groups have watched and supported the movie. This shows there is a strong interest in Indian animated films that focus on traditional stories. The filmmakers are now planning to release the movie in other countries and in different Indian languages.
The film is still running in theatres. Because many people are talking about it positively, and because schools are also taking students to see it, the film is expected to stay in theatres for a longer time.
