Neeraj Chopra, India’s top javelin thrower, has qualified for the 2025 Diamond League Final. The event will take place in Zurich, Switzerland on August 27–28. It is one of the biggest international competitions in athletics.
Neeraj competed in only two of the four Diamond League events this season. Even though he skipped the Silesia and Brussels meets, his scores from earlier events gave him enough points to reach the final.
At the Doha Diamond League, Neeraj threw 90.23 meters, setting a new national record and his personal best. It was the first time he crossed the 90-meter mark in an international match. His strong performance helped him remain in the top six, which is required to qualify for the final.
Neeraj chose not to take part in the Brussels meet to focus on preparing for the final. This was a planned decision to save energy and get ready for the important event in Zurich.
Only the top six javelin athletes of the season will compete in the Zurich final. Neeraj is also the current Olympic and world champion, which makes him one of the key players in this event. He is known for performing well under pressure and for staying consistent in big matches.
Neeraj’s place in the final shows how far Indian athletes have come in world sports. His journey gives hope to many young players in the country. It also proves that with hard work and planning, athletes from India can compete with the best in the world.
